E rimane vitale anche se -ad esempio- il mio blog non è incluso in quello strumento. Perchè se la BlogBar porta attenzione al blog del mio vicino e il mio vicino è attento a ciò che scrivo (mi cita ogni tanto o mi linka semplicemente), le possibilità che i miei contenuti abbiano maggiore attenzione risultano comunque incrementate grazie alla BlogBar”. Io ne approfitto per chiarire due cosette a margine delle polemiche che sono scaturite. La prima è che limitazione a Windows ed Internet Explorer non è – come si può immaginare – voluta. È vero: secondo le statistiche questo tipo di scelta accontenta il 70% degli utenti, ma questo sito non si chiamerebbe GNU se non pensasse anche al restante 30%. Il problema è che il sottoscritto ha le competenze per fare questa e, comunque, poco tempo a disposizione in generale. Ben venga chi è capace di produrre (o adattare) la stessa applicazione per Mozilla e per il Mac. È in questo modo – credo – che si crea una comunità (prendete ad esempio quella del file sharing): quando ognuno ci mette del suo.

Un consiglio, per facilitare la vita a chi voglia universalizzare il godimento della BlogBar: non so come si aggiorna attualmente, ma se i contenuti fossero resi disponibili in forma di web service, molto si potrebbe fare.
Anche un feed RSS potrebbe da abbastare.

Sono pienamente d’accordo con Vic. Sarebbe utile rendere la BlogBar (e le informazioni che viaggiano “su” di essa) un po’ più “free” (o come hai scritto… un po’ più GNU). Questo forse ne favorirebbe anche la diffusione.
