Nassiriya “la nostra Ground zero”

For the first time, the chairman of the independent commission investigating the Sept. 11 attacks is saying publicly that 9/11 could have and should have been prevented, reports CBS News Correspondent Randall Pinkston.
“This is a very, very important part of history and we’ve got to tell it right,” said Thomas Kean.
“As you read the report, you’re going to have a pretty clear idea what wasn’t done and what should have been done,” he said. “This was not something that had to happen.”
Appointed by the Bush administration, Kean, a former Republican governor of New Jersey, is now pointing fingers inside the administration and laying blame.
To find out who failed and why, the commission has navigated a political landmine, threatening a subpoena to gain access to the president’s top-secret daily briefs. Those documents may shed light on one of the most controversial assertions of the Bush administration – that there was never any thought given to the idea that terrorists might fly an airplane into a building.
“I don’t think anybody could have predicted that they would try to use an airplane as a missile, a hijacked airplane as a missile,” said national security adviser Condoleeza Rice on May 16, 2002.
“How is it possible we have a national security advisor coming out and saying we had no idea they could use planes as weapons when we had FBI records from 1991 stating that this is a possibility,” said Kristen Breitweiser, one of four New Jersey widows who lobbied Congress and the president to appoint the commission.

Chissà quando qualcuno farà la stessa cosa per Nassirya ?
In America la verità ha impiegato tre anni a venir fuori ma almeno qualcuno l’ha cercata In Italia ci si “costituisce parte civile contro Saddam”..

  1. Nassirya è “la nostra ground zero” solo quando fa comodo. E a me fa ridere il paragone. A NY, 3.000 civili inermi, a Nassirya 20 militari che avrebbero dovuto proteggersi meglio…

  2. E’ tanto per fare dello sciacallaggio, e giustificare col dolore delle persone ogni decisione repressiva di politica estera. Il nostro dolore sarà cavalcato, così com’è stato cavalcato quello degli americani all’indomani dell’11 Settembre.

  4. Nel riportare la notizia non intendevo discutere il senso della
    missione. Sia perchè è già stato fatto sia perchè sono certo che tutti quelli che son partiti l’han fatto convinti di servire la pace (molti li avevo incontrati in Bosnia e poi in Kossovo).
    La questione che resta senza risposta è se siano state prese misure adeguate per proteggerli.
    Due settimane prima si leggevano dichiarazioni demenziali sul fatto che Nassiriya fosse una zona “meno esposta”.
    Ora,esistono “zone meno esposte” in un paese occupato e di fronte a una rete terroristica che ha colpito da N.York a Bali ?
    Gli attentati con i camion-bomba
    sono stati “collaudati” a Beyrut nel
    1983 così come i labirinti di blocchi di cemento che li impediscono.
    Perchè a Nassiriya non sono stati predisposti ?
    Perchè non è stato fatto avendo ricevuto una minaccia diretta da Al Qaeda e tre segnalazioni dal Sismi ?
    Non sarebbe più onesto rispondere a queste domande che
    “costituirsi parte civile” verso un fantasma ? Gli Americani non si “sono costituiti parte civile”.
    hanno attaccato Bin Laden e hanno
    posto alcune domande ai responsabili della loro sicurezza.
    A noi è bastato mandare in onda
    molte lacrime.
